Frustrated by the lack of elevated jewelry options that spoke to her queer identity, she took her passion for jewelry and storytelling and created The Femme Identifier™ - one piece of jewelry that would become synonymous with queer femmes. This piece is created for femmes by a femme to solve a common issue queer femmes face in their daily lives. Because every person deserves to be recognized for their full authentic selves!

Keila J. began her career in the entertainment industry, earning two degrees in film production and writing. After moving to Los Angeles, she found her way working as a jewelry stylist. Developing a passion for connecting people to their favorite pieces, she decided to merge her gift of storytelling and jewelry to solve a common problem:
As the founder of Femme Identifier, I have first-hand experience of feeling invisible to the very people I wish to connect with most. When I first came out to the world, I thought the hard part was over but little did I know that was only half of it. It seemed no matter what tactics I used, I wasn't seen as the beautiful, proud lesbian identity I'd fought so hard to come into.
When frequenting queer spaces, most assumed that I was simply there as an ally to the queer community - not an enthusiastic participant with her own queer identity. Subtle symbols were too subtle and bold rainbows didn't always suit my daily routine or personal style.
That's when I decided to create a happy medium - one signature piece of jewelry that would become synonymous with queer femmes so that its wearer could avoid any ambiguity or confusion. This piece is created for femmes by a femme to boldly state, 'This is who I am. I am proud of who I am.'"
